How does TAM track sources ('How did you hear of this position?')

TAM traces the web site an applicant comes from when they apply for a position. If they come from a job board, a social media site, your company careers page, or an email link, TAM tracks this and enters it as the source. Be aware that TAM can only trace the most recent link. So for example, if an applicant sees a job posted on job board ABC, and clicking on the job board takes the applicant to your web site where they click on the listed job to go to the TAM page to apply, then the source will be set to your company web site, as TAM cannot "see" 2 links back to the job board.

TAM will check every source against your master list (under Setup, Messages & Lists) and update your list when it sees a new source.  So you don't need to maintain a long list of sources for an applicant to choose from.

If you choose to include the "How did you hear about this position?" question on the Job page (from your pre-screening form), TAM will allow the applicant to change the source, but the default will be what we already tracked.  In almost all cases, we believe the applicant will just accept the default as it will be displayed to them.  This should minimize incorrect choices.  We recommend using the "How did you hear about this position?" as this is the only way to track sources such as Employee referrals, External recruiters, Job fairs and Walk-ins.

If the applicant chooses Employee Referral or Other they will be asked to enter who referred them, or what the other source is.

The Source is displayed as a column on the Applicants table as well as on each applicant's page, and if there is a referral source this is displayed also.  In addition you can run a Source Report to gather statistics on where your applicants come from.
