Apply Now via Indeed
The Apply Now via Indeed feature can be turned on/off for each of your pre-screening forms. When turned on it will be active for each Job which uses that pre-screening form. When TAM posts a job to Indeed for you, or if you're using Sponsored jobs, Indeed will allow applicants to apply for your position on the Indeed website. They will NOT be directed to your TAM page.
The process works like this. When TAM pushes your job posting to Indeed it will also send all your pre-screening questions. The applicant will be able to use their Indeed resume or attach a resume, and they will be directed to answer the pre-screening questions. Once the application is complete Indeed will send the information to TAM via an API, and TAM will apply the applicant to that position. The applicant will get an acknowledgement email from Indeed.
Here is an example of a job using this feature. Note the "Easily apply" message which will appear when this feature is turned on. Indeed allows applicants to store copies of their resume on Indeed, so they can easily use their Indeed resume to apply more quickly. When an applicant sees this message they know that they can more easily apply to that job than other jobs which will not accept their Indeed resume.
Pros of using this feature:
- This feature is directed at mobile applicants. Applicants can store their resume on Indeed and then apply for jobs with minimal clicks on the Indeed site. It makes the process much easier for applicants and can significantly increase the number of applications you receive (the quality of these extra applicants is a debatable issue).
Here's an example of what the applicant will see when this feature is enabled. This will be the job posting that you create in TAM, but displayed on the Indeed site. When they click on the Apply Now button they will be asked to complete any pre-screening questions or additional information, then they're done.
Cons to using this feature:
- You will lose any branding identity that you currently have on your TAM page. Your posting on Indeed will have the job posting language that you create in TAM, and it may have your company logo, but otherwise every company's job page looks the same. There are usually no links back to your company website. This may or may not be important to you.
- In two cases the Indeed Apply Now flow does not support steps which may be in your TAM applicant flow. 1) if you require a full employment application from each applicant, and 2) if you require additional attachments other than a resume. Indeed Apply will not enforce requiring cover letters, they will always be optional (TAM has no control over this). In these two cases TAM will automatically disable Indeed's Apply Now feature, even if you select it, and any applicants applying on Indeed will be automatically redirected to your TAM page to apply via the regular pre-screening form.
Summary:
- If you depend on Indeed for many of your applicants, and you want to make the mobile application easier, this feature can be very useful. If you are using what TAM considers a "simple" application flow, i.e., a pre-screening form only, or a pre-screening form and an EEO form, then TAM will turn on this feature if you have selected it in your pre-screening form setup. If you use what TAM considers a "complex" application flow, i.e., you require a full employment application with the initial apply, or you're using additional assessment tools, TAM will automatically NOT turn this feature on, even if you select it. In that case TAM will protect you from getting incomplete information.
- If you do not depend on Indeed for much of your applications, or you believe simplifying the process will lead to more unqualified applicants, then it's best to leave this feature turned off.
