Viewing resumes and other attachments
Resumes, cover letters and other attachments are displayed on the applicant's page in their original format whenever possible. TAM currently provides three different choices which can be selected by each user.
- Google Docs view. All documents are rendered using Google Docs. This presents the original format of the document for pdf, doc, docx, odt, rtf, and txt formats. Image and html formats are not displayed.
- TAM docs view. A variety of viewing methods are used; Office Viewer for all Microsoft documents, a pdf viewer for pdf formats. Images and html docs are displayed. *** this view is not currently available on smart phones; TAM will default to Google Docs view
- HTML view. All docs are converted to an html format when possible and viewed directly.
The reason we offer three views is to accommodate preferences by different TAM users. In addition we have recently started experiencing bandwidth limits when viewing Google Docs. Each user may experiment with the method that works for them, and can easily switch between formats at any time.
Occasionally, when using Google Docs the image of the document will not be displayed and you'll just see a blank space. The fix for this is to clear the cookies in your browser. The frequency of this problem depends on the browser you use; for example Google Chrome rarely has this display problem, but with Internet Explorer it seems to show up every few weeks. Unfortunately we have not found a complete fix for this problem in TAM.
To clear your cookies in Internet Explorer: go to Tools (the gear icon in the upper-right portion of the browser), Internet Options, select the General tab, under Browsing history hit Delete. Check the Cookies box. You can leave all other boxes off. Hit Delete.
To clear your cookies in Chrome: Select Customize and Control Google Chrome (3 orange bars in the upper-right), Tools, Clear browsing data, Select Clear cookies, then Clear Browsing data.
To clear your cookies in Firefox: Select the Firefox button (upper left), then History, Clear recent history. Click Details then check cookies and leave other items unchecked, then select Clear now.
To clear your cookies in Safari (Macs, iPads, etc.): Choose Safari > Preferences, and then click Privacy. Click Details. Select one or more websites that stores cookies, and then click Remove or Remove All. Click Done.
We have found that TAM runs best on Chrome and if you can we suggest you use Chrome when running TAM. We will continue however to make our best effort to see that TAM runs on all major browsers.
